Dassin's Gaming Page
I started playing First Person Shooter (FPS) games back in the day with the original FPS game
Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny.
From there I went on to Doom and Doom II.
I had my first multi player experience with the Doom games. Both serial and modem games.
Then I went on to Duke Nukem 3D
and Shadow Warrior.
I played these in multi player mode as well. Mostly modem to modem with Th0r.
We also played a little Quake. Not so much though. At the time Quakes graphics and ability to play via TCP/IP was superior to
Duke and SW. But, the playability sucked. The weapons and gadgets in Duke and SW made playing them much more fun,
even though the graphics weren’t true 3D. Then some time in 1998 I bought Half Life.
I played the single player levels through, and downloaded all the third party maps.
Late in 98 or early 99 Th0r turned me onto TFC.
I downloaded the Half Life patch (forget the version, but it was pre 1.5) and followed him to a server.
I was red team on the Crossover2 map. Even though I got my butt handed to me I was hooked.
I returned to ID when they brought out
Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
I played the online beta a few times. Without being able to rocket jump or conc jump it seemed rather dull though. However the single player
game was outstanding. My latest FPS obsession is Natural Selection.
