Dassin's Anti-Spam Page

When I first joined the crusade against spam. I went at spammers with a vengeance. Most of the spam was for porn sites. Not that I have anything against porn. But, I do have a problem with amoral unethical pieces of human garbage who send porn adds to anyone including children. As it happens a lot of these twits use free web hosts. These usually have a provision against spam and porn. Here is a list of 45 of the sites I closed down by using the following information. Of course all they had to do was get another free account. If you consider the time the site was down before the scumbags noticed. It did cost them money in lost revenues.

LIST OF DEAD SITES The list of dead sites is not a complete list. As I didn't start keeping the dead links at first.
Some Anti-Spam Links: My page is geared to beginners. For lots more information on the subject. Check these sites out.

What to do if you've been Spammed

If your on AOL and you get Spam from another AOL member. (You can tell it's another AOL member because there will be no @suchandsuch.net after the screen name.) All you have to do is forward the Spam to these screen names TOSEmail1, TOSSpam, and boom he's busted.

For cases where you've gotten Spam from some where out there on the internet you'll need to read the following tutorial. Here is a sample of Spam I received at my AOL account. I have altered it from the original to protect, well myself mostly. Anyway most of it is how I got it. Using this I will show you how to find where it really came from, and give some pointers on how to ruin the spammers day.

(1) Nothing is for free!

(2) Don't click here. It is not free. And if you feel the need to surf up some of what ever a Spammer is selling. Go do a search. Odds are you'll find a better deal that way.

(3) NEVER EVER CLICK OR RESPOND TO ONE OF THESE! They don't care if you want to be removed. They want to know if your email address is any good. If they get email from you then they'll know. When they know it is, you'll get more not less!

(4) Pictured on the left is an old AOL mail example. To see this information now, see the place where it says'Sent from the Internet (Details)'. Click on "Details" on your AOL mail.
Highlighted in Red is the IP address of where this mail started from. It is the last IP to have square brackets around it [ ] , if you see a number with { } or ( ) ignore it. To the left of the IP is the address spelled out. Don't assume this matches the number version. Use the numbered version in brackets to see where it came from. But Dassin you say, what does the number tell me. Scroll down, I'm getting to that.

  • Once you have the IP number, then go to this Site ARIN: Whois.
  • The report you get will have name of the ISP that the IP address belongs to.
  • Go to the ISP's web site and find their abuse email address. Often it is something like abuse@nameofISP.net

When they get enough complaints they will terminate the account. If it doesn't come from a ISP, the spammer was smart enough not to use his own mail box. But if you are on AOL you can still foward it to this address "TOSSpam". If the guy was a big enough pain in their butt's AOL will bring them to court. AOL hasn't lost a case yet. But it takes people to put in the effort to click the foward button.

Tips on closing the Sites advertised by Spammers!

Sometimes these guys don't spend the money to get their own domain name. Such as WWW.SPAMMER.COM. If you click the link and go to the site look at the URL displayed by your browser. If they do have their own domain name there isn't much to do about it. If on the other hand the Spammer is using the free space he gets with his ISP or at one of the free web space providers you can get the guy shut down. Just about anytime someone gives away free web space they don't allow porn. Most spammers are selling porn sites so you can turn them in and shut them down. And don't tell me, "oh but he'll just go get another one". Don't sit there and take it. If enough of us get active in this we can give these guys a really hard time. To tell if the site is on an ISP or free web service provider look for words like members, tripod, geocity, in the Address of the site. The site will come down in short order. It may not happen till for a couple business days so be patient.
